World premiere - Brian Elias Horn Concerto
On the 22nd June 2025, Ben Goldscheider gave the world premiere of the Elias Horn Concerto with Sakari Oramo and the BBC Symphony Orchestra at the Aldeburgh Festival.

The soloist Ben Goldscheider was simply astounding, darting between all these moods with perfect, unflappable virtuosity. It was extraordinary to hear how many musical personalities the horn could take on: stony grandeur, lyrical sweetness, scampering energy.
Only a player of Goldscheider’s skill could pull this off, and Elias homes in on his nimbleness by casting the concerto as “time stretching and contracting repeatedly” in alternating fast and slow music.
Goldscheider provided a golden thread to hang on to as the music moved from scurrying frenzies to lyrical material, before disappearing with playful understatement.
